It's usually either a misunderstanding that causes any problems...I haven't really seen anyone make a cross-system attack for the sake of being a jerk in a long time.

You do get the occasional:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 403 | MIME changed to 'image/png'

But mainly we nikon folk are a peace lovin' folk. :D Can't help it if Canon users are so insecure.

Most of us were Canon users long before we started being Nikon users starting new threads.

Well,I think so at least.

Or Nikon long before we were Canon...

I've done photography for 7 years, I spent 2 as a Nikon shooter and migrated to Canon because their digital system had more promise, they had a ton of IS lenses and they also had USM in a lot of lenses... over those years its taken me a while to get used to the Canon ergonomics and i still have issues with them sometimes (I go to switch lenses and put it on wrong >.< or turn a focus ring the wrong way, in fact manual focus is still the one area i frequently turn the ring the wrong way because when i shot Nikon i used MF a lot)

I've thought of switching back because i like the ergonomics, or they were offering something Canon is not...

At least you know what each one offers and can make an informed decision.

Personally I think it's a good time for Nikon in many areas. But it all depends on what you shoot.
