Shooting my first vollyball next week, and would love to know more about your setup.

BTW, understand Kennesaw will be starting a football program in the next couple of years. Have a feeling that between Ga State and Kennesaw, our recruiting is gonna get a little tougher.

Kennesaw is getting a team, 2014 I believe.

I am shooting with a MKIII and 70-200 2.8. I also used a 35L. I have used a 300 2.8 IS in the past but haven't the last couple times out.

A 50 1.4, 85 1.8 and 135 F2 would work well too.

They seem kinda loud to me. How was the gym lighting? Are you a photog for the team or do you just shoot for your self?

For most of the net action, if you are shooting the white team, get on the other side of the net. People want to see faces and the ball. Several of the shots looks like the focus fell on the red seats and not the girls at the net.

There's good action though. Get back out there and shoot some more.

nice. you shot them right on the sideline, and or a few rows into the stands?

I want to try volleyball sometime, and I have a cropped camera, and only choice of lens is 50/1.8, wanna get an idea how close I have to be to the field for any chance of a decent shot.

Volleyball is the hardest thing that I have shot.

I was on the floor shooting these. I have tried shooting from several different places. It is nice to move around and shoot from several diffrent angles.

Your 50 1.8 will work well if you can sit on the floor or in the first row. You should get some good net action.
