Broken 40D value?

I have a 40D with issues. It powers on, but when you press the shutter button it makes a small click and then shuts off. To get the camera to power up again you must remove the battery. It never displays an error code or anything. It is in otherwise good condition, never been abused, gotten wet, etc.

What do you think the value of this camera is? Thanks!

$250 maybe as they go for around $500 and a new shutter could be $250. Or you could pay $250 to have the shutter fixed and you'd have a good 40D again...

Or you could go through the customer loyalty program and have a 7D, or a 50D .

I would get the camera fixed, say you have to replaced the shutter then you could sell it for around $550-600 especially since it would have a new shutter... i wouldn't upgrade to a 50D unless you got it for a minimal price upgrade.

I would get it fixed and plan on a new 7D and save for that down the road... eventually they all wear out...

I did already purchase a replacement 40D - I needed something inexpensive, fast, and familiar for a trip I was leaving on a few days later. I'm just now getting around to deciding what to do with the broken 40D.

Call Canon repair and get a estimate then go from there.
