You could even just fit a Mamiya DM56 with a 56mm-wid sensor into the TS-E 17L's image circle - you'd lose shift, but, for landscapes, maintain the all-important tilt function.

I'd guess that fitting it into a lensboard wouldn't be too difficult; attaching a timed leaf shutter would be harder (essentially, you'd need a leaf shutter that fits onto the EF mount behind the lens), as would finding a way to control aperture.

I think the problem is that trying to get infinity focus with a MF body with this lens is going to be rough unless it is a modified rangefinder. Hasselblad has dedicated cameras with 38mm lenses in them and the H series has a 28mm which is not a fisheye and V series 30mm which are fisheye. The mirror for a MF is larger than a DSLR. In a discussion online pne photographer mentioned that a 47mm on a 4x5 is 1" from the film plane. Something to consider.

Yeah, for a medium-format SLR body that'd be tough - you'd probably need an extra optical element in between to allow for infinity focus.

OTOH you'd have so much DOF that infinity focus would hardly be necessary - after all, you're generally focused on *something* in the scene, not just the horizon.

It'd definitely be doable with medium-format EVIL, or with a large-format view camera. With a medium-format digital back, you could easily have a body with no mirror or optical viewfinder, and just rely on live view. For aperture control, I guess you'd have to use a similar mechanism to that which allows manual aperture control for the Nikon 14-24 mounted on a Canon body...

You would think someone would have done something like this but we are living in the land of convenience.
