As is, fails to convey the texture of tree rings suggesting a stump which has been rubbed by many weary posteriors. There used to be a freeware program from redfield plug ins for photoshop which is a bas relief enhancer, this will give more texture when combined with a duplicate original in overlay mode.

Tried the plug in but cannot understand what it does. All I got was a kind of black and white copy of the picture and tried anything but nothing seemed to work

Neat shot; thinking the Depth of Field is distracting.. have you ever tried focus stacking?

No not yet but I guess it`s one of the many things I have to try very soon. Thanks

Is that greenish colour accurate?
You might want to make it a bit warmer - at least I don't quite like the colour - even if it does look like this in real life.
Personally I might even like some contrast in there - maybe even some extreme overdone editing.

How does it look naturally? If 'natural' is what you're after, just go with it...no reason to change the coloration unless that's the look that you're after. Proper exposure, accurate white balance, and sufficient DOF is really all that's needed...

Yes I agree with you too but now that I tried this I seem to like them both.
