Heres another shot. This is of Long lake NY. Edited for size.

Nice shot - Do you have the CPL filter for this shot.

^ boost the exposure to get the snow white and if your in lightroom 3 and most programs you can paint the sky or use a gradient mask to drop the exposure and keep the sky nice and blue.

I've not played with Lr3's gradient since I was using the trial version - time to get re-acquainted with it

as for boosting exposure - its a WB thing, I'm pretty sure, but I'll experiment more.

Just got my 24-105 last week and it paired quite well with my 60D. By far the best lens I have thus far since moving over to Canon.

I have found the lens to be great. I had originaly wanted the 24-70, but I am happy with this one.:D

Got my Meike grip today! Looks and feels nice, nearly identical to Canon. Rubber-ish grip stuff matches the body. Blue ink color by buttons is a shade different(who cares). So far I've only tried it out with my original battery, still waiting on my Phottix batteries to arrive. It makes the camera seem a lot bigger, but I like the feel, makes me less worried that I will drop it. :)

I'm waiting on my Meike grip, but if you tried it with your original battery... does that mean it will work if you only put one battery in it? Or do you own 2 Canon batteries?

I'm a little worried because I only own one original Canon battery and one off brand (Delkin) and I wonder if it's a good idea to use them both at the same time with the grip.

I'm curious as well. I'll be using 1x canon battery and 1x opteka battery.
Ugh,.. ordered last Thursday and it's still not shipped yet. Hopefully I'll get it sometime this week.

ACK! Help? So it turns out I should probably buy a second battery before I leave (oh, btw, my 60D and I are gonna be traveling the upper midwest of the US for 10 months starting with Iowa on February 15), but I don't have time to wait for China to send me a third party battery off of eBay. Any fully compatible third party batteries that ship from the US? Or anybody willing to sell me theirs and buy another (I'd pay for shipping)?

I love a conundrum...

Rivest, would it get here before the 15 of February? That's my bigger worry. I live very close to the Canadian border - I could probably get to Toronto on foot within two days if I really wanted to, including breaks for food and sleep (I could drive it in a morning).

Also, using my P&S to take a picture of Beetlejuice (that's my 60D, btw) today was painful and I ended up deleting the pictures because the IQ was killing me (granted, I discovered a rather nasty lens upon seeing that every shot was blurry and gross in the exact same spot, so hopefully cleaning it helped). The LCD on it was like death to my amateur photographer's soul.

Immaculens, thanks for the link. If I can't find any less expensive options I'll probably go with that one.

Photo of one of our frozen lakes here in the Adirondack Mtn's. Edited for size. C&C welcomed.

Great scene! Nothing in the picture looks sharp. Since nothing does, I suspect it may be the image reduction/post processing. If you're looking for darker skies, try a circular polarizer -just back off a bit when you get to the max darkness -I've discovered the hard way that it introduces noise if you're not careful.

Just got my grip today. I thought they didnt ship it yet b/c i didnt get any notification but looks like they shipped it out a day after I ordered it. Overall I'm very happy with it. Feels great! Texture and color match is awesome. I'll put up some pictures later tonight if anyone wants to see.

Check out sterlingtek. I just purchased a 2600 MAH battery from them that able to register just like the canon ones. You'd be able to get it very quick and the quality is second to none imo. I have used 2 sterlingteks on my old 10d that held up better than the canon battery.
