How do you take a 1042 second shot when the shutter speed max is 30? very interested :D

BULB mode, press the shutter once to open, press it again to close. I want to try this too one of these nights.

Close, you need a remote, if you just set it to bulb (or past 30 seconds in M mode on rebels) and just push the shutter down it will release as soon as you let go, so you need a remote. on a 60d/7d and rebels you can get a cheap $3 remote from hongkong, and it works great.

yes it was a 17min exp. I think tonight im going to try one for over an hr. LOL

Thanks Colin,

Will this work with Canon wireless remote RC-6?

Canon 60d size : 5.7 x 4.2 x 3.1 in.
Canon 50d size: 5.7 x 4.2 x 2.9 in

These are direct from Canon website. 60d is larger

Am I wrong?

One review gets even more precise for the 60D...

Had some fun with the 60D tonight, I popped on the Lensbaby Composer and took a walk through Pike Place Market and downtown Seattle on the way home. I ended up with some subjects I don't normally shoot (people mostly, I tend to avoid shooting people,) and some much more creative (composition and/or PP wise) than usual as well.

Take Our Picture! (external link) by Meghan A (external link), on Flickr

That last one is my favorite shot of the night. These guys looked like they were gathering signatures or trying to sign people up for "save the children" or something else annoying like a lot of other people who hang out on the sidewalks in Seattle. But when I took my headphones out when they gestured, they were just "take out picture! take our picture! Here, here, take our picture!" and then hammed up for the camera when I did. :)

A Hearty welcome to POTN forum Amanda! (and New 60D owners!)
You have some very nice glass to work with and a great flash too. I bought my 430 at the same time as my 50D & 15-85mm but ended up selling because I didn't use it as much as I thought I would. Now I see the high ISO does very well on our new 60D so all is well.

Enjoy the forum & this thread and lets see more of your shots

Thanks for the kind words!

I'm missing some reach, so will head over the EF-EF-S lens section to figure out what to buy next!

Thanks MintMark. Ok, 24% is quite a bit larger than the 85mm I think. It sounds like it will get quite a bit closer which I think for a one lens solution will be a bit better overall for me. My mum has the 18-200 which I have played with a bit. I have found it to not be too sharp in some instances and was unhappy with a few of the results, both on tripod and hand held. Now that the Aus dollar is better I am looking at getting a decent lens.

s392 - Ahh, cool. What are you studying? I was down there in July. No probs. How do you find the sigma? is that the only lens you have?

I really need to find the time this hobby deserves... anyway, here are a couple from my visit to see the ducks. Both were 60D with the 55-250IS.

Enjoying the sun...

I tried capturing flight and movement but found it hard to get good shots. I'm usually in Av mode... but I think I should be in Tv mode with a faster shutter speed next time.

I shoot my duckies in Manual with a minimum shutter speed of 1/800th but usually 1/1000th. Because I shoot at f/9 to get the best sharpness at 300mm for my lens - it also means high ISOs usually unless its nice and bright outside.

Yeah, I tried it last night, it works for BULB mode as well. I bought this for my T2i, but it works flawlessly with 60D :D

Nice. I bought two at the same time, one for the guy at work who has a 50D. He didnt do his research so he just spent $40 on something that is incompatible Hah. The RC-6 also works with the video recording mode on the 60D if you didnt know. :)
