Nice fog shot - what is your shutter speed for that shot? I've been thinking that when I am in fog next - I'll play with slow shutter speeds to try and "amplify the thick" fog effect.

gang - after 10 months of hectic - often overwhelming work I am finally on a one week's vacation!
Plan on shooting daily - rain or shine - but a few particular excursions are planned - hope to still see some migratory birds in a marsh 1 hr away, for example.

sometimes might be under the mild influence of irish cream in my coffee - but that's just one of the reasons for image stabilization!
:D ;) :p

Have fun. We should not expect to see you online correct.

I'll hope to post some fruits of my labors! :D

actually - if you catch me on here just hanging out - someone give me a cuff upside the head and say - "Yo! Get out and shoot! (and grab a coffee!;) )"

Edit: hm - like now!!! BYE!

I'd much rather be shooting Ashley Malia and checking out her bottom, but I'm stuck with ducks right now.;)

Interesting.... It almost looks like an old video game when all lighting was ambient and not directional.

See if this helps you any.

http://www.kamerasimulator.se/eng/?page_id=2 (external link).

Thank you for this:D so now I am starting to learn with it, so a smaller aperture 3.2 will have less light? but a f/4 - 5.6 will have more light in the lens.

SuicidnS13 wrote in post #12189992 (external link)
Aperture, shutter speed and ambient light available dictate overall lighting. If you step down the aperture to allow for a sharper image or more of the image to be infocus you must compensate with allowing for a longer shutter release time to allow more light into the available hole you created with the current f stop setting. Put your camera in AV mode and meter at f/3.5 all the way to f16 and watch the shutter speed change to compensate for proper exposure. This is photography basics and can be found in the photography 101 faq.

Thank you for the tip and I will try it.

Anybody remember the pics of the vodka bottles in this thread or remember where I can find it? Playing with some bottles and flash tonight and would like to see the technique. Thanks!

click search this thread and type in vodka

I must say I got confused because many members kept saying smaller, lower larger higher bigger apertures and I got lost in (what is what) so now I read the Ben's Newbie Guide to Digital SLR Photography a few times and some other threads so now I understand what I want to know.

Thank you

Because ranger50 give me a good tip also.

Aperture is read the oppisite of how your explaining it. Larger/Largest apertures start at 1.0. The higher the number the smallermthe aperture/hole. So an f/1.2 lens is way faster/larger/MORE Expensive than an F/4 lens. Google the price on a 50mm 1.2 vs a 50mm 1.8 lens. Or an 18-55 IS f/3.5-5.6 vs a 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens. Like 10x more expensive. Faster glass means a larger max aperture. Remember 1.2 = more light in the lens than a 2.8 LENS.

Its technically a fraction, and it helped me to think of it this way when learning about it.

1/2 is bigger than 1/4.

The same principle applies here.

f/1.8 is bigger than f/5.6.
