True that, unfortunate I live in a small town, I need to drive about 20 mins every day to work, not as bad as a lot of people, but $85-100/wk in gas hurts the new gear fund, and keeps the camera bag empty! lol

In addition to being new to the forums, I am also a new 60D owner. I really love the camera so far, but struggle with remembering to check or set all the menu settings and options. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to you other 60D owners, as you’ll probably see me hanging around on this thread trying to learn from you guys….

20 minutes ain't much, you can ride this bad boy to work.

Haha yes! Not very practical for the winter, but hey!

Welcome Mark (Swamp Fox)! You're going to love the 60D.

Congratts on your 60D Mark, and welcvome to the 60D club. It's not official until you post some pic's. We try to stay loose around here, and have a sense of humour. We like to have our fun and games. So, if you are up to that, I say welcome. Now get out and give us something;):D:D to look at!!

I like the the second photo, but then again, I have always been drawn to creepy B&W's so I don't count :D

I'm surprised there's no food pr0n section on this forum. In any case, it's a fried catfish platter from Jimmy's dock in DC (near the Jefferson). I apologize in advance of any complaints - it's time for lunch here :)

Hello all, I just got my first DSLR. My dad is big into photography so he told me to get a 60D. Unfortunately it won't turn on, so I have to return it to the camera store and get another, but I look forward to learning about how to use it well and participating on this forum.

Two more pics for the 60D thread. Used Topaz on these.
Great to have nicer weather and get out and about to take some pics.:)

Sigma EX 70-200 2.8 OS HSM
Canon EFS 17-55 2.8 IS USM
Canon BG-E9 grip

All on their way! Probably going to get the Canon EF 85 1.8 USM from a local CL ad as well for $300.

Can't wait!!

These are all in my possession now (including the $300 85 1.8 USM from CL), woohoo!!

Now I need a bigger equipment backpack!

I think there's a pretty big "Post your food photography" thread in the Still Life forum. Not that I mind seeing it here! :)

Another n00b checking in and saying hello. Not my first DSLR, but my first Canon. I'm coming from 20+ years of Minolta/Konica-Minolta use.

About 6 weeks ago, my wife gave birth to our first, and my Konica-Minolta 7D is getting pretty long in the tooth, it was time for an upgrade. Since Sony bought out Konica-Minolta...Well...I don't care must for most things "Sony" and I've been unimpressed with the couple of DSLR's they've produced...So I had to pick Canon or Nikon. I couldn't ask anybody, because it's a Chevy/Ford argument at best. So I hotfooted it on down to the local camera store and fingered the latest offerings from both. Settled on the 60D with the kit lens, a couple of filters, and a 430 EXII.

I guess I need to start buying lenses from scratch again :(

Anyway, I may be new, but I would think that it would be bad form to post up and make you read all ^^^ that drivel without posting a pic. So...HERE'S JACK!

Keep in mind that this is the picture my wife wanted, blown out whites and all. He was 2-3 weeks old in this pic:
