a mild annoyance ~

has anyone found that when you turn your 60D on - the LCD does not display - its black?

I've set it at various times to auto-display the settings layout (vs the electronic level, or other) but about a 3rd of the time it displays nothing.

know a way to permanently have it display the settings window?

For the cards, I checked their website but haven't seen a single place that talked about pricing. It looked really business-oriented, where do not really reach regular small photographer. Feel free to PM again with some details, there's tons and tons of sports team here, there is sure money to be made.

Care to share any more info on sports cards? I'd like to maybe do some for our local Roller Derby team... not for profit (yet), just to support the team in their first season.

I leave it off by default... Saves battery and you can see the settings on the top LCD.

So then only HSS can be used in shutter priority and Manual mode ??

If you read the manual, the camera always assumes you are using ambient light when in Av mode and the various flash features are disabled and it will limit the shutter speed automatically. If you want to play with aperture and flash, you have to go manual mode.

I was talking awalk the other day through the woods and stumbled apon a small lake with a very very tiny dam. I took a pic of the water runing through the dam and converted it to HDR. let me know what you think.

On the Manual of the 580 EX II page 17 says this. Even the 430 Manual says this on page 16

"With high-speed sync (FP flash), the flash can synchronize with all shuttter speeds. This is a convenience when you want to use aperture priority for fill-flash shots."

So...

I came to the conclusion that HSS + AV are only possible if under c.FN I option 7 you leave it at 0 (auto) and not 1 (1/250-1/60sec. auto) but that would lead you with some long shutters speeds at dusk.

Would be awesome if Canon let you put the minimum shutter speed that you want, for example 1/10 and also can go to HSS. or even let you select if you want slow sync or not :(

I'm referring to the function found here:

set left top dial to "M", then press Menu - move to icon 3rd from right - "INFO. Button Display Options".

if mine is 'black' after sensor cleaning (about a 3rd of the time) - I need to press the INFO button a few times for the screen I want to show.

I know what you mean, mine was doing exactly that. But I don't remeber what I did to show it when I resume the camera (pressing half the shutter or AF-ON)

Only rebels display the lcd screen because they dont have the 2nd lcd. if your 2nd lcd doesnt work too something is wrong. i cant stand the screen being on personally. my 7d and 50d are the same way.
