what do you feel your time is worth, given your experience?

shooting for an hour is one thing.... then there is the sorting and choosing and editing, etc, etc that takes all the time. for me, anyways...
maybe consider giving a price for the shoot - and 2 retouched 8x10 jpeg files and a price for a collection (2 8x10 with 5x7, smaller) and then a price if she "also" wants a CD of 15 jpegs or so, you choose how much editing you wish to do on them. Just my thoughts...

+1+1

You need to realisticly price your self within other photographers pricing. But also family favors are just that family favors. In my experience portrait sessions sell best in packages as does most portfolio work. My simple packages start at 200.00 and go way up from there. My hourly rates start at 100.00 per hour depending in needs.

2 hour portrait/portfolio shoot - 200.00
-2 looks
-3 edits per look and 30.00 for each additional edit
-makeup artist is an extra 50.00 and up
-prints in 20 x 30 start at 60.00

I also have atleast one 20 x 30 print from each shoot personally printed and they are displayed in my office for clients to GAWK at. It provides value to see work in large format. Heres a little secret... Check out how much Sams Club charges for a 20 x 30 print. Hint- under 10.00 on fuji paper.... Easy money guys.....

I just got an email saying that it's out of stock despite saying "In stock now" on their homepage :(

They "are hoping to get it restocked next week". Fingers crossed!! The only reason that's making me wait is it's €832 versus the €1050 it costs in stores over here, I think saving over €200 is reason to wait, as much as it kills me!!

Just a little update. Found a 60D in a store where is was a bit cheaper then the rest, best thing is I had a €50 voucher for the store that I won :D The store is usually overpriced so I've had the voucher for over a year while I bought everything on line!

So I thought, **** it, I'll use the voucher, pay the little bit extra, get the camera now instead of next week and atleast I'll have a 1 year guarantee with the store aswell. So picked up a 60D yesterday!!

All I can say is coming from a 450D is wow! Viewfinder is so big and bright. Can't even imagine what a full frame one is like. And shutter sounds so much different. Having a party tonight for my birthday so can't wait to put it through it's paces. I'm a happy camper to say the least

I just got my camera yesterday and I took a pic with the 18-135mm and the colors were so brilliant compared to my previous T1i 18-55mm. So I thought maybe the lens made the difference. Then I used my nifty and I could still see a great big difference in the colors. This camera is amazing.

I had one question though. How do I use the 430EX II with this camera (off camera)? Can someone explain it? Thanks.

Grats on the new camera! It's definitely a great one. Post up some shots :D.

Owner's manual would be a great spot to look. Otherwise this video is handy:

I have been agonizing, yes agonizing, over which lenses I should get for my 60D. I currently have the 18-135 kit lens, the nifty fifty, and th e 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM. I was considering selling the kit lens and picking up the 24-105 f/4 L and the efs 10-22. Over in the lens thread there have been several discussion where people are saying that the 24-105 and 24-70 L's are great on full frame but not crops. I understand that you are end up with more of a mid to telephoto zoom and not much on the wide end, but other than that I would think you still have a great lens and you will need something else for wide shots...which is why I was interesed in the 10-20. They all seemed to be suggesting something in the 15-85 range with a lot of them suggesting sigma over canon. What do you guys think?
