Any 60d users have any tips for Filming video, specifically wideshots of landscapes etc?

I only have the stock lens right now and I do alot of VFX and Matte Paintings and really would like to film some wideshots but everything always tends to look soft or slightly out of focus.

Any suggestions on what settings to use when filming on a sunny day?

Thanks

Rob

You need to use a higher f/stop like f/11+

Ya, my skin tones look a little red. I think that is a canon thing and it can be reduced by changing the red tint towards yellow in lightroom. I usually add 20 or less as any more I find the skin to turn too yellow. My printer prints with less red than my monitor so even though my monitor is calibrated it could be a problem with my calibration or my printer profiling.

oki tnx a lot man.. :)

If you can, see if you can get one at about 1/125 to get some prop blur on the blades.

It has to be very smooth for 125th while shooting air to air, but prop blur does look so much niceryour right!

I just got a 60D and when I use the liveview, the autofocus is SO SLOW. Sometimes, it focuses for so long, and ends up not being in focus so cant take the picture. Is there a way i can change this besides using manual focus?

You can change live view to quick focus, then the mirror will flip up and use the same focusing mechanism that it uses for the viewfinder.

The live view will go black for a second while the mirror is flipped up, but if you are doing stills and not video it's not that big of a deal.
