Lucky you if you think that's early. Christmas decorations have been up in my house since I went away for a week in early November! ;) I came home to Santa's kingdom!

How are you liking the 17-50? I'm loving mine.

I'm liking the 17-50 so far because it's all I have as a walk around besides the 50, but my bro-in-law has all the other canon L lenses which i'm jealous of, but then again he's a professional. Those canon L lenses are amazing, too bad i don't have one, YET.

thanks for the tips - I realised yesterday after taking those christmassy pictures . . anyway, I am shooting all these in RAW as well, so, I am going to experiment with adjustments.:D

Photoshop 9 is available in UK at below £70.

Do you guys think this could be a good way to start learning the art of PP ?

Photoshop "Elements" 9 - and yes - its a fantastic program. I had version 5 and then got PSE 8 for its advanced noise reduction capabilities (9 has it).
I really only used about 20% of all features - its massive - and still quite scaled down from the full Photoshop.

however - I downloaded a trial of Adobe Lightroom 3 - and fell in love.
It is quite scaled down from PSE - BUT - what it does have is superior to PSE. I Love Lightroom and will follow it through various new editions.

PSE is the right price - and a great start - most of what you need is readily in front of you.

But Lightroom has what I need... I sold PSE 8 a few months after buying it.

Either is great. Although I find PSE cumbersome and not a 'tight' application vs Lr.

The current Photoshop is version 12, but confusingly it comes as part of Creative Suite 5.

Does anyone know why Adobe produce so many variants of photo-processing programs?

So today I decided to play with the built in flash controller. I used 1-430EXII in slave mode and I the pop flash was disabled so it wouldn't contribute to the exposure. The built in flash controller is such a welcomed addition and make the 60D that much more versatile! Here are some shots of Kiki.

Took this at a national cyclocross event this last weekend. JPEG shot in color and then converted to B&W. Wish I would have shot this as a RAW image. C&C welcome.

Nice shot ~ I like the effect of the slight blur of people in the background. Your 1/200th managed to catch your cyclist subject with little or no blur - were you shooting with AI Servo? The background out-of-focus & slight blur is similar to a flash 2nd curtain effect I've seen.

I was practicing shooting in manual tonight... just messing around trying to get comfortable making adjustments and learning what to expect from them. I like how this one turned out... although I realize now that you can see me in the reflection, oops.

Can I join the club? Just picked up mine today!

I know screen protectors are debated to be used, I think I may pick one up. Opinions? Also.. same size as the 450D, yes?

I don't have a screen protector on mine yet, but I've been thinking about it. Do they sell them already cut to the exact size?

I saw one on Amazon for about $13. Just a plastic film that goes over the screen.

They sell them on ebay, exactly for 60D, but I'm looking at my 450D and its the exact same size. Also the specs say they both are 3 inch LCD screens.

Guys, when shooting snow, if you don't want to end with grey snow and dull pictures, add 1/3 or 2/3 of exposure. Your white will punch more :)

I wish I could use this tip. But sadly it doesnt snow in Sydney. Maybe when I hit the mountains next july.
