Here is one with a 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM on a tripod with IS off and remote.

And there were about 5 more of that same shot but different settings and that is the one I like the most.

Nice vid, rly liked the song and the flying in shots. I have a steadicam too but i haven't balanced it yet.
For my video i just used 60d with 50mm 1.8 and used a monopod. Some shots were a bit shaky thou but overall it looked ok. I used sony vegas 11 to edit, all i did was boost the contrast. It literally took me 20min to edit the video, ill spend more time next time.

How do I merge all the video content once I have it alligned the way I want in the timeline? That way I can just add an effect to the whole video rather than clip by clup? Also allowing me to move the entire clip accross the timeline so I can add credits ect?

Hey guys! i am pretty much new to 60D and i think i might have a soft focus issue with it. is there a way to check it efficiently. i did the comparison shots with 40D , using same settings with a tripod and images on 40D are pretty much same or slightly better while 60D should be several steps above. i have attached a 100% crop, unedited image of the best focus i could get shooting a flower at 135mm (no wind while shooting)
Can someone help me find out if i have soft focus or not. i can also email the full-size picture. i need to figure it out by tomorrow as it is the 14th day from bestbuy purchase

I used live view on a tripod and set the view magnification x10 then shot with a remote (or timed shot). I Auto focused and then switched to manual (and tweaked) to verify it was on target (it was). The 18-135 at it's longest is probably not the sharpest lens and that doesn't look bad for a 100% crop imo.

My first moon shot was about that. Try using a tripod, remote and shutting off IS.

mondayshift wrote in post #12786001 (external link)
good first try. :)

and the things RHChan said will help a lot.

yeah. that was with a tripod :/ and the lens doesnt have IS.

The tripod I currently have was a hand me down and I need to invest in a better one. Also, I've been out of photography for over 2 years and was a Nikon person before. If the sky is clear again tonight, I'm gonna try again. I got a few pointers from another friend and we'll see how this one goes.

hi everyone.i currently have a 450d with tamron 17-50-sigma 10-20 & canon 70-200l.i shoot only landscapes.i like the idea of electronic level, more mp,better veiw finder on the 60d.my question is if i upgrade would i notice a difference in picture quality or should i save & get a 5d mk11.

greetings,
450D was my fist dslr. If landscape photography is your main love, I would save for the 5D II. I never use the electronic level - it can be leveled as you like using software like Lr3 for example. I would say you would see a pleasing difference in quality between the (very capable) 12mp 450D vs the full-frame 21mp 5D II - its like the 5D series is built for portraiture, landscapes, and studio - it shines.

Learn to love to do well, and you shall.

shot man, if you have a chance to go ahead and exchange then do, but i think the problem is if BB has 60D in stock to exchange for. if they do i say do it.

try focusing on still subject instead, like the back label of a can or something and use that as a focus point. and even use 3 cans or batteries set up diagonally. focus on the middle and see if maybe it's back or forward focusing.

sorry thats about all i can help with. check put other threads in the forum that might be a bigger help. good luck.

Thank you for your reply. i have tried same technique, but saw no improvement. i've also tried shooting both with kit lens 18-135 and 28-135 USM borrowed from a friend of mine, this image is the best focus i could get.

PS the 50-250IS gave much worse, almost blurred results

If you do not have a remote, set the timer to 2 seconds and hit it and quickly let go. Pressing and releasing the shutter can cause slight shake.
