I turn on my camera and my default is that all (main) camera settings are displayed and 39 times out of 40 this is the case.

I have it set - when I press the back most right upper button - the AF point selection appears on my screen. Then I press 'SET' and it selects the center AF point, for example.

EDIT: not certain what you mean by AF button - do you mean the AF-ON button?

when I press that button - I have the "main" camera settings already displayed - but pressing it activates the metering scale

Okay, I see what you're saying.
I have my INFO button on the last option.

It works if i press INFO > AF button
Also if I [Q] >AF button

however, can i have it always show when i press AF button, without INFO or Q

If I have used the info button to display the third option (shooting settings) and then do something else (like playback images), if I half press the shutter then the shooting settings display activates again. Same when I press the AF-ON button.

My guess though is that it might be to do with metering being activated, so have you set your AF-ON button to be AF only and not metering start?

Quick question before I head out to buy my 60D tonight. Is a Class 6 SD card all I need to get the camera operating fine? I don't have money for those big Class 10 cards.

Watch for deals at Best Buy, I got a Class 10 8gb card for $49. Not sure how often they go on deal like that, but I thought it was a good price. Not that you need class 10, I got it because I thought I might shoot a lot of video and wanted the fastest card for that. :)

A lot :) Once you have a DSLR with articulated screen you will never want to go with a fixed one !! My old camera was a sony A300 the first one with that "gadget". But now for me is a must, because i know what a moving LCD can do.

Wow, those are both awesome deals! The first review on the Amazon page makes me not feel too bad about spending $49 on mine, but for just shooting stills, not in high speed mode, those cards look great. Surpised that they can call them class 10 though... Write speed is 16mb/s compared to 30mb/s on the Sandisk Extreme III.

My class (4) San Disk Ultra II's write 15mb/s . Been using them for video without issue.
