Wow, those are both awesome deals! The first review on the Amazon page makes me not feel too bad about spending $49 on mine, but for just shooting stills, not in high speed mode, those cards look great. Surpised that they can call them class 10 though... Write speed is 16mb/s compared to 30mb/s on the Sandisk Extreme III.

Class 10 means minimum 10mb/s write speed. They can be faster.

My class (4) San Disk Ultra II's write 15mb/s . Been using them for video without issue.

hmmm....i was using a 16gb class 4 card and tried the video, and it would stop after around 5 seconds..then i switched to a class 6 card and now it works fine and doesn't stop automatically.

So I picked up my 60D, and the best memory card I could find at the store (Navy Exchange) was a PNY Optima Class 5 16gb card. Got it for 55 dollars. Should I go return it tomorrow and get a card from Best Buy instead?

EDIT: So yeah I tried shooting video with it, 1280x720 at 60fps. Everytime around 9-11 seconds, a bar on the right side of the screen shows up, and when it fills up, I get a message that it stopped recording automatically. Is that because the card isn't fast enough?

Do you mind sharing Exif data? Image looks pretty fuzzy on my end-?

For the first picture:
Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/60
Av( Aperture Value ) 4.5
Exposure Compensation +2/3
ISO Speed 100
Lens EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Focal Length 31.0mm
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode One-Shot AF
AF area select mode Automatic selection

I suppose shutter speed was kind of slow?

For the second picture:
Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/320
Av( Aperture Value ) 4.5
Exposure Compensation +2/3
ISO Speed 100
Lens EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Focal Length 38.0mm
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode One-Shot AF
AF area select mode Automatic selection

Maybe my weak puny arms had trouble holding the camera pointing upwards on the second one?

Here are some more I took that day:

Watch for deals at Best Buy, I got a Class 10 8gb card for $49. Not sure how often they go on deal like that, but I thought it was a good price. Not that you need class 10, I got it because I thought I might shoot a lot of video and wanted the fastest card for that. :)

I bought a faster card not for shooting video, but because I wanted it to be faster copying pictures to the computer using a card reader.

I have so many pictures to sort through... :(

Is it a 5 bar indicator. Look on page 187 in your manual and it will tell you it has to do with the write speed of the card.

That's kind of expensive isn't it? Compared to online at least. I never buy any type of memory from actual stores. You guys should really check out http://www.newegg.com …sNodeId=1&name=Class%2010 (external link) for your SDHC Class 10 needs.

I bought this one a while ago. It's cheaper at Newegg currently, but I had a $5 off code for mwave. I haven't tested it in a camera yet myself, but there's a review on the site that says it works fine in his DSLR.

Canon finally paid some attention to the 60D page and has offered software options for the different OS's

http://www.usa.canon.com …edName=DriversAndSoftware (external link)

Excellent.....thanks :)

I noticed that Win-7 (x32) lists Canon RAW Codec 1.8.0 but win-7 (x64) does not......interesting. Anyone know how I find out what RAW codec I have?

Otherwise the rest of the updates are the same.

Jon...

Well here goes, I am new to digital Photography, I have stored all my film cameras ect, 645 ect , the other day splurged and got a 60D at Best Buy. Am having pblms taking pics right now as I rotator cuff surgery at the same time I got this camera. How ever I did finnaly find a tripod and took a few pics out the window around our bird feeder...My interest however is I want to create DVD slide shows and have the pictures show full screen on the newer HD tvs..Hooking up the camera and shooting pics with the aspect ration set the 16 X 9 on The B side works just fine on my TV using my camera. How ever putting my stuff on what software I have doesnt work with my slide show software. Any ideas on what software I need to change old pics and use the new ones and creating a interesting slide show on dvd for friends...So far I think I am going to really enjoy this camera. --The UV filters for both the 67 52mm lens I was able to cob off my old Maymia 645.

there are free programs, like picasa, with limited functionality. Proshow gold is a wonderful program which wont break the bank.

I think you're right, now that I see some of the prices online and see that video works fine with class 6 I probably spent too much. I should have known better... I order computer memory from NewEgg for the same reason--retailers mark it up too much.
I have a patience problem sometimes... I see it in the store and buy it without looking online, lol.

On a different note... I copy my images from the card through the reader on my printer, we got a new iMac at work recently with the built-in SD port under the disc slot, that thing copies WAY faster than my printer's reader. I think the printer is USB 2.0 but I'm not positive. Anybody know why the built in reader on the iMac is so much faster than through USB?

Probably not fast enough... I think you're supposed to be able to record 10-12 minutes straight without stopping. I'm not positive on that, I should probably read the manual :p

EDIT: Sorry, I missed Macroshooter's comment... that probably answers it better than I did.
