Stupid question but I'm trying to attach my wimberly F2 macro flash bracket to my 7D with battery grip with a RRS L plate (BGE7-L) and I can't seem to get it attached to my camera as there doesn't appear to be enough room.

The base thing (Module 1---M-1 Quick-Release Arm) to the right I can barely fasten to my l plate as the knob doesn't have enough room to tighten and then flash arm (Module 4---M-4 Macro Arm) doesn't actually have enough room to fasten to the Quick release arm as the battery grip gets in the way.

Can anyone help out? I read that the F2 should just work with the RRS L Plates.

Have you tried with the battery grip removed? It might be the case that the flash bracket won't attach with the battery grip and it won't be the first time that such attachments are made without the designers considering pro series camera bodies or battery grips :(

Tools of the trade: Canon 400D, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS, Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70mm f2.4, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, Raynox DCR 250, loads of teleconverters and a flashy thingy too

Fair call, are these any better?

So this is the quick release arm fitted to my L plate facing towards the right.

This is trying to fit the macro bracket to the quick release arm but it just hits the battery grip.

This is the quick release plated mounted the left, the knob on the QR plate keeps getting in the way of the RRS plate and is unable to turn and tighten.

This is with the macro bracket. See there's enough clearance that side but not on the side.

This is showing the Wimberly QR knob rubbing against my RRS plate.

I can't as it needs an arca swiss plate to connect to and I don't have one just for my camera body.

Since there appears to be plenty of articulation movement available in the bracket, why not attach it to the 'side' portion of the RRS L plate rather than the 'bottom' of the plate?

From the first of your latest series of photos, it looks like it would be possible to attach the bracket to the right-hand side of the RRS L plate, with the tightening knob facing toward us.

G'Jim c):{- ... 2x 50D (Both Gripped), 2x 7D (Both Gripped), 2x 5D Mk II (One gripped), 1x 60D, assorted glass (10-800mm), sundry accoutrements.
The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"
