They are also available in black, I'm at work now so check Google if you are interested, IIRC it's the same part number with "CB" on the end .........

I prefer black for the simple fact that it's often a lot easier to hide somewhere, if you do have to have it in the pic :D

Exactly.

Having said that, my booms are grey...

i always wondered why they made chrome stands, when all they do is reflect light like mirrors

Which is what you want for mic stands, but not for light stands.

I'll be ordering a 3rd RX600 tomorrow. Now I'm debating between modifiers and a Avenger A4050CS. Also, can the Tronix be attached to a stand to double as a weight?

A few photographers wanted to learn about lighting, so we had a meet at the beach. Good food and fun times. Here's a group shot with the RX600 and 39" DO.

Hi Stu,

The Tronix Explorer can surely be used as dead weight for a light stand. I wouldn't hang or suspend the battery by it's carry handle but if it's in the bag (or any bag with a strap or handle) then it's just fine. The Explorer weighs in at ~20 pounds when in the bag.

Nice shot! And good even spread with just the 39" DO. I wish I took the same route you're taking (RX instead of BXRi). I'm having this dilemma of what portable power supply to use right now. Lol.

hey "hawk" i noticed you use Interfit triggers... why is that?

they are cheap, and they work for me. I can buy a replacement receiver for $35, or a new trigger and receiver for $90. They are radio too, so you're not limited by line of sight. I think I'm the only one using them, too but I've had no complaints. They fire consistently for me 99/100 times

I just recommended the Interfit radio triggers to a student recently. He didn't want to buy from ebay or deal with China. Since he does most of his shopping at either B&H or Calumet I told him to take a look at the Interfit triggers based on Geoff's experience with them, pricing and ease of replacement or upgrades.

He bought two of the kits with one transmitter and one receiver and now has a receiver on each of his two strobes, a transmitter on the camera, and a transmitter to use with his flash meter.

I helped him set it up and in all the testing we did and the one shoot he's had so far, they are proving to be reliable with no misfires or quirks.

I think they're a great alternative to some of the high end and considerably more expensive systems and for what it's worth, they look like they're re-branded and US sold Yongnuo's.
