to be 100% honest I dont talk to the models before a shoot. I have some one doing that for me. He asks if there is any that I would like to shoot or he just throws one in the mix. It is a pretty good deal actually

Tripod would be nice but not really needed if you are not making a composite. If you are then yes you need a tripod.
If you are going on locaiton with out power you will need a power supply (generator or battery system.)

No as long as the mount is right and the umbrella shaft is the right size you are fine. I am using Calumet genesis reflectors.

An extension chord. I use a back up UPS for a place that has no power.

I have a 7D I use the pop up flash (triggers speedlgiht) and put the Elis in optical slave.

Great, thanks for help I was also thinking about using back-up UPS, but how long can it take on one charge (w/ 400Ws flash)?

Bought today a 100cm normal octa. Used for £90 pounds delivered, new cost about £210 here.
In the images it looks perfect, with only one problem described (could not see in the images) a 10mm cut in the outer black material (think I could mend this my self).

Hope so, originally my plan was to get that softbox, but my funds in summer did not stretch far enough. Had to live with umbrellas for a while.

Another thing is, I need the Rotalux bag... I only could find two models, one being Short other Long, assuming the 100cm octa being a rather small softbox would need the short one?

I finally wanted to be part of the Canon crowd and thus bought a G12. It doesn't work with Skyports though, the screen goes dark in manual mode.

Never used G series but my moms PowerShot SXsomething in manual mode tries to replicate what the shot will look like. Sort of "what you see is what you get".
