That's really nice Robert. Are you using this combo more or have you had more recent need and you are posting?

Hi Ralph,

I've been doing a lot of work in people's homes and find that when that's the case and I know I'm dealing with 8 foot ceilings and potentially cluttered and small rooms I find that the 53" Octa is my most flexible modifier for that type of work. The 39" Deep Octa would be great for a good deal of it but for that work a larger and softer light source proves to be better.

It can get me through just about any shoot including groups and for that reason the 53" Octa has always gotten a tremendous amount of use.

Sorry guys, the links are only for using Speedlight's with Softboxes or umbrella softboxes, not tiny umbrellas that stick out of the top of your glass as you sip a cocktail in Aruba. :)

What are you using for lights when you're out to peoples homes?

Elinchrom 600RX and I carry a 300RX with me as well. I'm always prepared for a two light setup even if I'm pretty sure I'll only need one. You never know and it's great to have the backup.

That's disgraceful. If there's one thing I HATE, it's shipping & handling profiteering. Grrrr!

Agreed but I am in a pinch so I have to :(

Adorama is a dollar more but free shipping. :( They will have more in April in case any one is looking for one.

Received my 100cm octa this morning. Had fun for like 15 min to figure out how to assemble it.

Anyone knows how to fix a small cut in the fabric? Super glue/tape to prevent it from tearing further?
Another thing I noticed is that the Quadra adapter fixing knob is not possible to lock tight because it pokes through the softbox back (its too long).

Also borrowed a 7D from university, will try them both out this evening. ^^

The fixing knob (all Elinchrom are the same) has a feature where you can pull the knob slightly out and then spin it back in the opposite direction. It takes the friction off the handle and then once you "release" it back to it's original position you can tighten it up (like a ratchet).
