You'll love it Tharaka! The modifiers is where it starts to get really exciting.

On the topic of Modifiers, Jerry has confirmed a bracket for Quadra with 69" Octa, how many of you use this modifier on location? I'm very interested.

The Ranger that I ordered yesterday arrived this morning. Check it out:

So... the rundown is like this:

1 Ranger RX Speed AS
2 Ranger A-Heads
1 53" Octa Jr.
1 Varistar thingy.
1 extra batteries
1 grid reflector
1 white reflector (didn't even realize that was coming with it.
1 PocketWizard to Eli sync cable.
1 Hard case to stuff the gear in.

I'm excited. One thing I realized quickly... You really need a boom with the Octa. It's too wide to tilt on a straight stand. So... I'll have to order one of those.

Oh... and just in case you guys think I'm the worst poser in the world. My wife is a tennis pro (teaching pro) and she's studying for a certification exam she's taking this weekend. She's watching a DVD on the flat screen above the TV. She was just ignoring me as I set up a test shot. Hahaha... that's how use to me taking picture of her she is.

Congrats Tom! You're going to love it. Bring it out for an engagement session and get used to it before using it on a high pressure job.

I'm fairly used to lighting. I'm just not used to that giant octa. ;) It's huge! And it's not even close to the biggest one. Ha! The power pack is stupid simple. I love that.

Looks great Tom! Makes really nice light.

You might try a grip head/arm combo rather than a full blown boom for getting the octa away from the axis of the stand so you can tilt it more. It also works really well as a short boom for a beauty dish.

I have the Avenger D200B and D520B combo (grip head + 40" arm with T) and really like them.

That's what we all say, until one day you are walking down the street and poof, where did your receiver and adapter go? Things you learn in the field.... and while on that subject:

Consider picking up the cable adapter.

Wow. That would suck. I'm actually using pocket wizards. I have the Eli to pw cable.

Here's another test shot. I wanted to test the power. Both diffusers on and both ports occupied ( a port on subject. B port on tree). I still had about thee stops of spare power. This was about 2:00 PM.
