Actually Mic was the one that said that when color came around :p

You young whippersnappers don't know what it was like back in my day...

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

When I take a shot, I know which part I want in focus, and that's the bit that is!

True, but if the feature does not reduce the quality of the pictures why not? I mean this would take away all the AF problem threads. :P

I think that "if" is a very big IF.

And no, it would just move those threads from hardware to software forums :-)

I'm not against advances in tech - hey, I've even moved to digital! - but there's a suspicious lack of actual information around regarding this product.

Just a normal 15" Macbook Pro, :) but it is about 2,5kg (according to the Apple.com).

I'm also quite skeptical we will see something like that usable in near future. But as like color photography it took time to develop where it is now. :)

edit - more info, http://www.lytro.com/renng-thesis.pdf (external link) :) I did not read it all my self, but it does look like explain the idea of it.

So I read that in the NY Times a few days ago. For surveillance cameras it would be great. For regular photography? Hmm, I'll have to see it to believe it. I think it's more like the whole pic is in focus and then you can blur what you want. Not for me. I prefer soft, out of focus pics from my manual focus 5DII.

And thank you peeps for the answer to hopefully being able to use my Setti, should the UPS driver get here in the rain, before the speedring comes. I'll post some unboxing pics. Blurry ones, of course, and poorly lit too.

Which model is that, Dennis? Deep or shallow?

And where's the mandatory unboxing video?

Even I recognised it, and I've never seen one in person :-)

Can't beat a huge SB, they're awesome.

3x4, and Rob is, of course, right. It's the deep one.
Well, Dave, my D700 does not have video. ;)
