Hey all I have a question: Would this kit (external link), or at least most of that kit (sans the eli hard case, of course), fit in a peli 1514 and still have room for a body and maybe a couple of lenses? (I'm thinking mainly a 70-200)

You can probably fit the pack, battery, and head in there and maybe the charger. My 1514 fits two D-Lite 4 heads and barely has room for the power cables, speed rings, and sync cable plus a tiny lens like a 50mm f/1.8.

Ranger RX Speed AS (fits beautifully between the wheels), cable fits between generator and front, under Nano stand, charger is at the back under the Westcott double-fold umbrella, Ranger Free Lite 'A' head. Lid organiser holds Skyport Ranger receivers and a transmitter, Skyport adaptor, various fuses, sync adaptors.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Yeah, nice and light, fits nicely (well, JUST :-) . With the umbrella, there's a traveling kit right there in the box.

Mic/Brendan - do you both really store that stuff in the pelican "naked?" I use the padded divider set (w/o the dividers) to have a layer of protection inside the case. You guys are either more brave, or more heavily insured than I am.

Nah, it's got a foam strip across the bottom.

:-)

I look after it pretty carefully, and haven't had any issues yet. I'd use the padded dividers as well, if I has the 1514 rather than the 1510.

I've got a block of foam (well, three pieces) sitting here unused.

I have the tan 1510 with padded dividers. And still my insurance isn't cheap. :( I always put the battery at the bottom and the heads up top. I've never put a stand in there. Most of my stands are like 3' steel stands. Won't fit in there. We've been using a pole as of late more than stands. Which are quick.

For the Australians interested, DDP has released it's own new "Pelican Case" at very nice prices. One nitpick is no wheels.

Wow no lube either.

That's exactly the same cases Bunnings is selling for $69 and $85 respectively.

Sure is.

Here's a thread over on OCAU (external link). He paid more for it then over here though.

These are like just one brand of knockoff hard cases.
