I did a search on this forum and couldn't find an answer to my specific question.
I know this is such short notice, but I didn't give much thought into the legal aspect of photography until now, when my mother in law brought it to my attention. Now I'm a little nervous about this. I can't help but think 'What the heck have I got myself into?'
Enough rambling. Here's what's happening. There's a small airshow coming up tomorrow at a local airport. One of the cool things they do is give children free aircraft rides. I'm thinking the parents of these kids might appreciate high quality pictures of their child posing with and inside the aircraft,as well as shots during the flight. What kind of release would I need to get?
Here's something simple I came up with:
I (parent/legal guardian) do hereby give permission to Kira A. (my full name) on this day, September 25, 2010 to photograph my child, (child's name).
I understand no images or likeness of my child will be published in any way without prior parental knowledge and consent.
(Parent's signature) (date)
Will something quick and simple like this work? I'm planning on keeping these forms as well as the images on file for up to a year, so parents can order more prints from me if they want, and also in case anyone wants to kick up a stink. I'm going to be selling the prints to the parents, if they want some.
I don't see myself needing to publish these pictures at all. Since I don't see myself doing much in the way of people photography. My photographic passion is in aviation. My photography isn't the bread winner but instead is a hobby I love doing, that may or may not making any money.
Thanks folks!
