What's wrong with my brand new 7D?

When I first turned it on, it was like this also. I immediately went to go update the firmware from 1.1.0 to 1.2.2. I don't think the firmware fixed anything because the issue was still there for awhile and then magically went away.

I've been messing with the 7D for the past few hours and then decided to format the CF card that I've been using. This screen issue came back after I did that.

I've been powering it on and off, resetting settings, formatting the CF card, removing the battery...out of ideas right now.

Did you turn it off and remove the battery for a few seconds as per the instructions. Try that and see if it sorts it.

My 7D has 'locked up' twice. Turn off, remove battery, reinstall, turn on, problem solved. Hopefully this will work for you.

Where did you buy it? (I'm hoping you bought it local and not Mail/Internet order)

Can you still take it back for exchange.

I've never had an issue with my 7D, so far.

I've had it for almost 4 hours. Bought it from Amazon. I think I'm going to end up requesting an exchange...

I think you just got the Australian model.


Seriously, though, it does look like a good candidate for an exchange.

Can you shoot with it at all, or is it locked in the menu setting? If you can't sort it out just contact Amazon and request a replacement.

Wow. I just submitted a request for an exchange to Amazon and got this response from them:

Got kind of sad for a moment. I thought it would take a whole week to send in the body and get my replacement body back. I just put everything back in the box and they're already sending me a replacement that'll be here tomorrow. Amazon just made my day

you have 2 batterys ,1 big and 1 small take them out for 20 mins ,but it look like the video sink is out ,what you are seeing is the top and bottom frane

I can shoot and do practically everything else just fine, but nothing is displaying properly in the LCD. Wanted to make sure it was an isolated incident first before requesting a replacement and looks like it is. Oh well, Amazon is sending me a new one now

OOo.... this has gotten me curious.

What happens when you chimp? (as in playback a stills image and view in LCD?) Is it also split half-@$$ backwards?
