For many years now I've been wanting to take pictures in a dense aspen grove. Can anyone recommend where I might find one in California? I'm based in LA so the closer to LA the better. They are starting to turn gold in the Sierras I hear.

The Aspen Grove Trailhead, San Gorgonio Wilderness. I have never been to this spot, but it's in Southern California.

Yeah, I was looking into that. I found a set of pics on Flickr that were not terribly impressive. I'm looking for something much more dense, along the lines of Christopher Burkett's Aspen Grove pic.

You might have to travel to Colorado to capture those type of images. The Sierra is also starting to change into it's fall colors, but that's not SoCal. My friend Graham just got back from the Eastern Sierras.
Here is a link to what he captured up that way

I'll be heading up that way this week for a few days of fly fishing and photographing.

Yeah, if I have to go to the sierras, that's fine. I just don't know where the groves are. I know Colorado has the ideal but it's not an option currently for me.

The San Gorgonio grove is supposed to be the largest in southern California.
