today I was walking around and came to the Mapo Center for Dementia and noticed that the building is plain concrete with metal bars all the way up. Decided to shoot it and then edit to make it look a little scary if I could. The first picture is the original unedited jpg and the second was edited in lightroom (my first pic edited there in raw) - I added alot of grain to the photo as I thought it added some oomph to the image - and then moved to photoshop to straiten it up a little.

Also had to save as quality 7 in order to get file size down to 150kb due to forum restrictions.

I got as much of the building as I could without stepping into traffic and getting run down.

thoughts and suggestions welcome.

I think your vision would have been translated a little more effectively if it had been a portrait (vertical) composition rather than landscape (horiz). Also, a little camera tilt would have added some tension, adding to the emotion you were trying to create.

I did a real quick edit to show you what I mean.

Devin

Devinwk,
thanks for your suggestions. I really should've thought of shooting vertically.

I like the idea - but I think you should have covered more of the building - not just such a small part of the building.

If you look through my Sheffield set you might find some images that use a similar idea - Office buildings though: http://www.flickr.com …m/sets/72157618201613304/ (external link)

DetlevCM - definitely wanted to, but need a wider lens than I have, otherwise I would need to step into traffic and risk getting run over.

Too bad :(

I just looked at your lens in the sig... I used a 17-50mm Tamron at the time (used a 40=D too)

Too bad...
