Is the 550d/t2i a good video camera? I have an XS Rebel for photos and wanted to get into digital filming. I've seen lots of t2i footage on youtube and really impressed with the quality.

Just want some feedback.

Nick

I have taken very short clips with my T2i and the images are satisfactory for what is primarily a single image camera. I will use a video specific unit if I want to take videos. Due to taxation rates on video gear Canon and all the rest make video clip times rather short to avoid those higher tax rates IMO

I upgraded from the XS to the T2i and am very happy with the video quality. There's a learning curve, however. It's not a camcorder and you have to get used to manual focus with the various lenses you'll eventually attach (wide angle, prime, telephoto) for the place you want to film in (indoor/outdoor, etc).
With that said, if you want to shoot short clips at a time for editing movie projects, then pick one up. I put together one of my dogs and added some aerosmith music and my friends and family love it. Also, I took photos at a local high school football game, flipped down my hoodman, took some video, then back to taking photos; very convenient having an all-in-one set up.
