More from the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
The horns on these cows (not bulls) are upwards of seven feet long per side. That's over two meters for our metric brothers and sisters.
I shot these from the moving tram. The beasties would not present a head on shot for me.

To bad you couldn't get them to turn around butt you get the feel for the size of these horns here and they are huge.

Now there is something that we don't see everyday on here. Very unique shots and nicely done. I would have loved to seen them head on. So you need to go back and do it again.....wear something red.

Great shots, Skip. Er, the first one looks strange for a cow. I'll defer to your knowledge, but would a cow have that thingy hanging down where it is?

Mooters! I love it. And yes Stan, there's been some mistake, take if from a dyed in the wool farm boy.

Thanks for comments, guys.
Stan, Kenny, I agree. The gal on the tour insisted that they were all cows. The first one does have rather large udders for a creature with the aforementioned equipment. Could be in the "undecided" category ;-)a

First of all, a cow has only one udder. Said udder is divided into four quarters, each a separate mammary gland, and each with its own teat. Ergo, four teats per cow.

Now if the tour guide insisted they were all cows and not bulls or steers, I guess I would believe her. Certainly if she was wrong, someone would have corrected her long ago. That "thingy hanging down where it is" is probably the cow's navel. On some breeds they have lots of loose skin to help dissipate heat, and the navel tends to hang low. I have to admit, I would need to examine that animal a little more closely to know for sure.

Skip, did she mention what breed these cows were? They look like some sort of cross between a Brahma and a Texas Longhorn.

They look like Watusi too me. (try saying that fast LOL!)
I have several friends that raise them. They are quite a novelty.

Curtis, thanks for setting it straight. I knew better. Udder is singular, plural, all there is. I have seen pronounced navels on cattle before but you are right to withold judgement pending closer examination. The guide said that they were an African breed.
Bonnie is most likely right that they are Watusi.

I'm pretty sure I can see nipples on the cow in the top pic. But anyway, the pics are great, especially the top one. It would be cool to get a head on shot, but the top one especially gives a unique perspective, which makes the photograph special in my opinion.

I see nothing on #1 to indicate it being a bull. I have a black angus cow who has an elongated navel like that. I KNOW she's a cow (or I'm a rich man) because she gave birth to a calf a couple months ago. I vote COW!
BTW neat pics.
