I have a G6. Love the G series. Should I get the G11 now or wait for the G12? There does not seem to be much price difference; about 100 USD. Oh, will the Speedlite 220 EX flash work on the G 11/12? I'm a quad and the G + the 220 is about all the weight I can handle. Thanks for your help.

Speedlites work with all the G series. I would wait and see the reviews of the G12, haven't seen many images yet.

If video and HDR in camera are important to you then get the g12 otherwise try to get a good deal on a g11 on clearance or used.

Thank you racketman & john69az. The most important is the swivil screen. I do not think the G11 has that.
Thanks again.

Mine does so I would assume all the G-11s do :)

The G11 does have the swivel screen.

If you don't already have the 220EX, I would suggest the 270EX instead. Same size, but it tilts for ceiling bounce which gives nicer results.

The g11 and g12 have the same picture quality and basic photography features. The main difference is the HD video. So I would make that the deciding factor on whether you wait.

Here's a nice side by side spreadsheet (Also includes s95): http://www.digitalrev.com …-vs-s95-6663-article.html (external link)

Thank you Taylor. Bought the 220 EX for a G3 many years ago. Thanks for the link too. Probably going with the G12 simply because it is newer. Now to find the best lens protector I can leave on all the time. Lensmate made an excellent one for the G3. I do not care for the G11 72mm but have not seen any other that will protect the lens and housing (?) from 28mm to 140mm. All I want is to protect the housing & lens, and add a UV filter and polarizer. I do not use wide angle lens or telephoto lens. Guess I will have to get the 72mm. :(
