I've got some lenses that I originally purchased for my Elan 7e that I've been happily using on my 300D.

I've been putting money aside for better glass, but my shutter went out so now I'm buying a body first. The lenses in question are the two zooms in my sig. Will using this older glass on a 7d (my first choice) cause any issues because of the much higher resolution? Obviously it's not L glass but I've been happy with the results on my very old 300d.

They should work fine on the 7D. You might find that the lens looks softer on the 7D than on the lower resolution 300d, but the lenses won't get any worse.

You might want to check out the reviews on this site: http://www.photozone.de/ (external link). There are tests done on different cameras, find a test of one lens on different bodies and compare resolution charts.

I have a circa 2000 canon 28-200USM lens. I have read that it was made for film cameras. It works very well with the 50D,especially stopped down.

Ain't nothin but a thing.

Thanks for the feedback, feel a bit more comfortable moving forward with the body purchase. Hopefully the CLP will come through for me!
