These are from day one of the two day Planet Bike Cup held near Madison, WI. Held under international UCI rules, many top riders competed so it was a great chance to get a look at some of these guys in person.

1. Three time French national cyclocross champion Francis Mourey.

6. A quick press conference with the top three is held immediately after the awards presentation. A great way to get a close look at these riders that rarely pass through here. Winner Jeremy Powers (JPow! :D )

Like the press shot a bunch. Also good timing with Mourey and Johnson. I hope we get some good cyclocross weather this year.

I don't know cyclocross but am I right in thinking he's jumping a barrier while holding his bike in number one? That's darn athletic... Would it be possible to get that shot from more of a side angle to get an idea of how high they had to vault?

Anything is possible. :D I didn't get any side shots that day, but here's one from a different race last year.

Heh heh ... the burning coffin jump was for Halloween one year and that photo went viral pretty fast (lots of hits on my web page that week!). Fortunately, the officials and the fire department looked the other way and let us race there again the next year. ;) Fortunately, here in Wisconsin we can still have beer hand ups during the race. They're illegal in Chicago now. :(

Very nice action shots...

5D, 24-105L F4 IS, lots of old EOS bodies, manual bodies and lenses, Bronicas, Metz CL45s, many bulldog clips and gaffer tape, all stuffed into my 20 year old Billingham!
And then there's the Elinchroms...
