K6AZ Cream of the Crop More info | Sep 26, 2010 21:42 | #2 It will probably be like when the 7D was released and it will take a while for Adobe to catch up. In the meantime try the free DNG converter, that worked for me until Adobe did the ACR update.

ACR has already been updated for the 60D, but you will either need to get CS5 with ACR 6.2 or download the free DNG converter version 6.2. When a new version of Photoshop is released, older versions are no longer updated to accommodate new camera models. The features in the new CS5 version of ACR (6.2) make the upgrade worthwhile. You can try out CS5 for 30 days to see if you like it by downloading from the Adobe web site. Greatly improved noise reduction and lens data are two features that make the upgrade worthwhile. Sep 26, 2010 23:46 | #5 thanks does the DNG converted launch out of CS4 or do you need to run convert to TIF or similar outside and then open in CS4? rob - check my galleries at http://hardlightimages.zenfolio.com/

You can open them directly in Photoshop. Also, when converting to DNG you can select the compatibility all the way back to ACR 2.x.

Sep 27, 2010 04:55 | #10 Hmmm I downloaded and installed the Adobe DNG, but find it says the Canon Raw Codec I have doesn't recognise the CR2 files produced by the 60d... I've looked but the latest Canon Raw Codec I can find is 1.7.0 and does not seem to include 60D? AM I missing something...surely Canon wouldn't release a new camera without providing and updated Codec? rob - check my galleries at http://hardlightimages.zenfolio.com/

BillBoehme Enjoy being spanked More info | Perhaps, you do not have the DNG converter set up properly. You will need to set it to a version that CS4 (if that is what you have) supports. For example, I have mine set to ACR 4.6 and later so that it will be compatible with CS3. You should have the compatibility set to version 5.4 and later, if you are running CS4. Sep 27, 2010 15:13 | #12 Bill Boehme wrote in post #10987221 I hope that this is not a silly question, but I presume that you did actually run the DNG converter program on the CR2 files that you wanted to convert to DNG files, didn't you? After that, you will use ACR to open the DNG files (not the CR2 files which are never changed). I always open ACR from Bridge, but it whould not matter if you used Photoshop to open the DNG files. The DNG files are viewable in Bridge, but the CR2 files for your 60D will still appear as icons. Your comment about codecs makes me think that perhaps you are using Windows Explorer rather than Bridge for navigating through you image folders. If so, you are missing out on a lot of stuff that will help with your work flow. . Yes it's in DNG when I go to select the CR2 files to convert that it pops up and tells me that the Canon Raw Codec I have won't recognise them... so I never get through the conversion. I do use Bridge, but generally open ACR from CS4. I'm confused rob - check my galleries at http://hardlightimages.zenfolio.com/

Sep 27, 2010 15:39 | #13 IT WORKS! I was trying to select the actual CR2 files from DNG and that's when that error messgae came up. If i just select the folder they're in and hit convert it goes ahead and I can see the thumbnails in Bridge and then open using ACR in CS4 rob - check my galleries at http://hardlightimages.zenfolio.com/

I did not think of also mentioning that you select the folder and not individual files. Atmospheric haze in images? Click for Tutorial to Reduce Atmospheric Haze with Photoshop.
