good luck with Intro2020 i had the worst time when i sent my 17-50 in for repair with them..

really, what happened? I don't currently own any tamron lenses but when I send mine in I had quick turn-around and no complaints so I'm just curious.

I had the same issue with a Tamron 70-200, worked ok when I first got it, then did exactly as described in the first post. I sent it in for repair and they said it needs a new diaphragm, it is still under warranty. But I have been waiting for nearly six weeks and the new diaphragm still hasn't been received by the repairer.

Having the same issue with 28-75 f/2.8, have contacted Tamron (lens is still under warranty). I'm seeing this issue a LOT on the web with various Canon EOS models (mine is 500D T1i) and lenses (Tamron, Sigma, even Canon). Wondering if there is an underlying issue.

The first symptom on mine was battery drainage even when off. Then I was having an issue immediately after taking a photo, where the screen would flash dark instead of flashing the photo I just took, then it would show that photo but very dark. Some people seem to be helped by using a battery grip.

For me, it was not a problem with any certain aperture, and I could not set the aperture (it was constantly F00).

Seems like some kind of problem with the contacts (but of course I've cleaned & cleaned them).

This is a critical lens for me. I'm just wondering, even if Tamron repairs it, whether I can trust it in the future on this camera.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of an underlying design issue, but in Tamron's defense, this doesn't seem to be too widespread of an issue. Keep in mind that when you already have a problem and are searching online for an error message, repair, etc., that your results are going to be skewed straight from the start. A google search for "Tamron Lens error 01" only turns up other people with the same problem, it says nothing about thousands who are out there shooting with the lens because it doesn't have an error.

And more specifically to your case, best of luck and hopefully it goes well after the repair. Based on what you've posted, I think you're probably best just sending it in to see what they say, I can't think of what else to try here.

Good point that it may not really be that common. I'm sending the lens in today for warranty service...keeping my fingers crossed.

I have the same issue with my 28-75mm AF w/ the dreaded Err01. It errors to both of my XSi and 40D bodies. I've played around with and somewhere around F4-5.6 when it occurs, not sure what the focal length is though. Unfortunately I got this lens used. I have the warrantly card, box and all, but I think you also need the receipt. Is that true? I've read the problem is due to the aperture flex cable needing replacement. I wish there is a diagram/schematic around available as I saw some of those flex cable around for sale for only about 5-15USD on Ebay or Amazon. Then I can just replace it myself. Anyone have any input to this?

I just want to put out there that not all Tamron lenses have these issues. I recently bought the 17-50 non-VC and the 28-75, both used. I shoot both of them on a 60D the 28-75 on a 5D with no issues.

It is not necessarily a problem with the lens. You might want to try upgrading the firmware of the camera to the latest version. I was given a Tamron 18-200 that was attached to a 400D that had been soaked with water, the 400D no longer works. I tried the 18-200 on my 30D body just to get an error 01 message, obviously I thought the lens to be dead also. I tried the lens on an old eos 300 film body and it works fine. There is a firmware update for my 30D that I have downloaded but have not as yet tried installing as I'm not sure I want to.

Thanks for the feedback. I will have to send mine for a service. Btw, I bought mine new but it's 4 years old. However with low usage.

I do believe that Tamron offers 6 year USA warranty. Not sure if it's specific lens, or all lens they sell.

Usually requires receipt to claim warranty. Some people have gotten away with not sending the warranty card; however, receipt seems to be something they won't let slide.

With DIY repairs, I'd weigh out the price point.
Tamron 28-75 can be had for about $300.
Previous post said Tammy quoted them for $150.
If there's no Youtube video with a detailed disassemble video, I wouldn't risk it :)
I repaired my Canon 50m 1.4 by just taking it apart without instructions, but would never do again.
