Was out with the Cadets this weekend and had some time to take some pictures in between flights.

Wow, perfection. This makes me want to fly a cub even more now! (Though that's not a cub is it?) And i desperatly want to take up gliding, but i can't afford that right now :(

The photos certainly back up your title, and it's good to see our youth following such a dream. Thanks for the photos & being a part of their mentoring.

The plane is a Bellanca Scout. The pilot did 35 tows, releases, and landings through the day.

It is definately peaceful. Although the clouds were really rolling in so the gliders were only taken up to 5000 feet.

Thanks. I have been active on the parent sponsoring side and the executive committee for a few years. As of this year, I have enrolled into the reserves so I can recieve my commissioning as an officer.

Thanks. Here is a link to some that are much better and many that are much worse, but it gives you an idea of what the day entailed.

There is nothing like watching 16 - 18 years old pilots taking kids 12 to 18 up in a glider. Watching them and being around them gives you a sense of comfort as to who will be leading our country in the coming years.

As someone who was one of those kids (a long time ago) I can honestly say that many of the skills I use today were gained through the mentoring of the adults at my Navy League, followed by Sea Cadets & finally the Air Force Reserve. It's a great system to teach respect, manners & life skills that can form you in ways you never realized at the time, so good for you.

I had the same opporotunity growing up so I feel compelled to help out. The added bonus is both of my sons are in the squadron I work with.

Thanks Jay. Besides, how else am I going to get access to the runways.

There's a lesson here for folks looking to shoot in these environments...

That's right. And for the Canadian members here, you don't have to join the reserves to help out. You can always be a Civilian Instructor and get most of the same access to the runways as the officers
