Already done, over and over again, before the problem. The testing software does about 20 passes using different patterns, which is better than just putting a few images on.

Plus, 600 images is 600 shutter actuations, I don't want to wear my shutter out testing a CF card.

Just pitch it in the garbage then.

Well, i'm testing it with the testing program, and if it tests ok i'll think some more. I'll not toss out the one that's been ok so far though.

Yeah I wouldn't ditch the entire brand. Every brand fails at some point or another.

I was just meaning ditch the cheap Transcend MLC cards and going for the more expensive SLC cards, but i'll keep both for now and test them out fully before I decide what to do.

First question: is a single error enough for people to throw away a memory card, and all the others like it?

Second question: assuming you threw them away, would you replace with Sandisk Extreme, or Transcend SLC?

1) Yes.
2) Stick with what you know is reliable for you.

I agree with TK; out it goes regardless of the reason for the error.

I tested it for 16 hours and didn't find a single error. Still, I see no reason to keep using it, so i'll probably sell it and the one like it once I have replacements.

After the 8 hours testing I did use another card of the same brand/model at one of my weddings last weekend, and I had another single corrupt image. Needless to say they'll never be used again.

After a bit of a search I wonder if there's just an incompatibility between the D700 and the Transcend 133X orange label cards. The black label 300X cards, which are SLC memory and cost about five times as much, seem to be perfect so far. I'll be moving to use just the higher quality cards.

I have been using 2 16gb Transcend 400x cards for a few months. Thousands of pics captured on them shooting volleyball, softball, football, etc.

I did have one ruh roh on a card. I gave it to my photo buddy so he could download the pics for the website. Something went wrong and his Macbook Pro wouldn't read it. Long story short, I brought it home and recovered all of the files with Sandisk Recovery Pro. I formatted the card in the PC and in my camera. It has worked great ever since then with thousands more pics.

I am thinking about buying a couple more.

266X and 300X are the only Transcend cards with SLC memory. I won't be buying any more MLC Transcend cards.

All Sandisk cards are MLC, but i've not had any failures from them yet.

Doesn't Transcend have a lifetime warranty on them?

There is no way I would even leave my house with a camera and just one memory card considering their cost. Going on vacation with just one card is just asking for disaster IMO.
