Ok....I admit....to try and stir things up, I did toss a small ant into this spider's web. It wasn't much of a fight for this large spider. In my defense, I did have a bad year for ants in my house so he had it coming

The ant landed somewhat close to the spider, so he really didn't have to move, just reach out and start spinning...

But here is where it gets interesting....just as soon as this was over. The spider ran quickly out of my viewfinder. I pulled back to see a wasp had just got caught in the web.

The spider had a little more on it's hands with this one. In the shot above, the wasp was going for the sting. I don't think it hit, because I checked in on the spider later and it seemed fine.

Lovely captures.
The spiders seem to know wasps are dangerous and tend to wrap them first to immobilise them before going in for the kill.
