I'm in a situation at work where I've been asked to take photos of company related scenerios (i.e. shop production, job sites, product, etc.).
I've been thinking about the Tokina 11-16 2.8 anyway and I think it may meet my needs for the work related stuff. I have a 40D.

I'm pretty sure I'd need something wider that my Tammy 17-50 and that the 2.8 would at minimum is a must for low light shop pictures.

Would the Tokina be the most logical choice for given my needs? Are there any other recommendations out there for a crop camera? Thanks!

If anything, you don't need the 2.8 since you probably should be stopped down anyways. Other than that it appears to be a great lens. I've read that some people consider it a $600 prime.

The 2.8 is sharp on the Tokina great for indoor shot shoots handled.

That's what I'm looking for. I forgot to mention that some of the shots could be blown up for wall displays.

The Tokina 11-16 is an awesome lens and its 2.8 is handy for low light shots and times where you don't want to lug around a tripod. However, depending on what the subject is, you might not want to shoot handheld at f/2.8, but rather stop it down and use a tripod so there is a lot of depth of field. You'd probably want a lot of your scene in focus.

I have a Sigma 10-20 which I like a lot because of its price point. I would go with the Tokina, but at the time I needed an UWA and the Tokina wasn't widely available. No regrets here though. Just be aware of the limitations of the lens you're getting.

You already has a great sample of lenses, and the Tokina 11-16 will add more range with the best quality available for crop. Buy it and let the company pay for it, since you are going to use it at work.

2.8 indoor shot here

Awesome shot! I've pretty much made up my mind on getting the Tokina. I just wanted to see if there was anything I'm missing...it doesn't appear to be!
Oh....from what I've understood, the company may at least help pay for it.

Cool shot!!!

The 11-16 is a great lens!!!!! If it doesn't fit your needs, don't think that it's the lens that's wrong, it's probably just you. Lol. Kk.

the Tokina 11-16 is a blast.

If you need more range, maybe look into the newer Sigma 10-20 f/3.5

Awesome shot snoop

The 11-16mm is a great choice and it is nice having a 2.8 (you may not realize it until you need it). I do a lot of indoor shots and it has been great.

The 11-16 is a great lens. It will complement your 17-50 well.

I enjoy mine as you folks do, but I sure seem to see more purple fringing on it in the corners compared to my other lenses. Maybe it's just the stuff I'm shooting with it that somehow brings it out. This tempers my enthusiasm for it somewhat.

You will love this lens. Its also built like an "L" which is more than I can say for the Canon 10-22mm.
