For those not in the know, this is probably the greatest honor, next to earning awards, for enlisted sailors...making Chief. All these respected 1st Class Petty Officers, us junior enlisted look up to, are beat down and treated as nothing as they are worked, pushed, and strained like Boot Camp by current Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, and maybe a Master Chief to reach a new level...to earn a new level of respect and position. It's rigorous work and the initiation is of such tradition a CPO Select came in from being IA (Individual Augmentation - The Navy is now sending sailors to Iraq etc they want their own army whole other discussion) just to go through it. He'd still make the rank but he went back the day after without ever truly spending time with his wife and two kids. Take a look. I unfortunately was backup since my camera was giving me battery issues so I dropped point and found out the Sterlingteks I have are just dead.

They're marched around base in formation, yelled at to be covered down, guide right, and more because they are the example.

Great pics!
Our Chief talked about the initiation when you make Chief and how hard it is. Can't be too far off between Navy and Coast Guard. Congrats.
