Last Friday I had the opportunity to cover the Nine Inch Nails show in Sydney.

I can't publish any here, due to the very restrictive agreement I was required to sign prior to shooting. Here is a link to my photos as published on fasterlouder.com.au (external link). I have also published the photos on my own website - Rocksluts (external link).

In an interesting twist, the photographers were allowed to shoot only for songs 4-6 and not the normal 1-3. I think it made for more interesting photographs.

[fixed link edit]

The fasterlouder website is on jungle juice. All singing, all dancing.

9in finger nails -well I don't listen to their music, but visually, for a photographer, there doesn't seem to be much 'show' to inspire. On the other hand gimmicks can be OTT like Kiss.

Do you dream of shooting shows like U2?

I think the shots are great Angus, not a lot of variety but there are quite a few standouts for me. I reckon' NIN are about the music more than the performance anyway!

Nice shot of the drummer! Pity the lighting wasn't to spectacular at the show. (Il'd have liked a bit more backlit pics of Trent Reznor, but I think if the situation would have presented itself, youl'd have captured it)
I would like to have seen a bit more action though, but the last time I saw NIN was a few years back, so maybe they 'calmed down' ;)

Strange rules!!! Nice images. I shot Al Green last week but haven't managed to get images processed. I will shoot Matt Jenkins tonight and James Brown tomorrow night. Simply up to my A$$ in alligators. :-)

Yeah, the FL site is a little "busy". Beyond my control unfortunately!

RE NIN, I've never been a fan, but it was a great opportunity for some high profile portfolio filler. They actually had a pretty good stage presence. Perhaps it's my coverage that is lacking? That said, it was very busy in the media pit with lots of security, lighting techs running the spots photographers and punters crowd surfing.

In relation to my dreams, I just want to shoot concerts. The band up front is not so important to me as long as they put on a good show. I'm wanting to branch into doing more promo shoots as well.
