Alright so this is a selection of shots from back in April but I've just been so busy since then that I haven't found the time to post them until now. The idea was to have a clean and consistent look throughout the set and utilize white space as a means of stylizing the book, this was a special issue called the "Ultimate Parts Collection". Anyway these are by no means a sample of my abilities in the studio as I had to shoot 15 cars and 1 scooter in four days... so that's 4 cars a day and to say it was exhausting is an understatement. It was probably the worst week of my recent life and nearly made me want to put my camera away for good, I think this was the straw that broke the camel's back lol. Anyway I believe the issue is still on newstands now so if you haven't seen it take a look. Any input you guys have is appreciated, feel free to tear them apart although I probably already know most of what you might bring up. Also for anyone interested there is a behind the scenes video on YouTube (external link) I must warn you ahead of time if I seem a bit out of it it's because I am - this was the last of the 15 cars on the final day and I was so beat I just wanted to get the hell out of there lol. Anyway hope you guys like them :)

These are absolutely stunning mate! Makes me looks so forward to my first cyclorama shoot, which will be in about a month :).

Care to share any info on setup/processing? I presume you used white perspex beneath the cars, but my guess is there's a bit of PP in these aswell. You're lighting is stunning though, all these shots have an amazing 'metallic plastic' sort of look to the paintwork. Great stuff!

i really love the look, almost illustrated feeling? A definite strong feel, you know? Like you had a thing you wanted and really got it in all the shots. The exterior shots are just great.

Absolutely styling shots mate. Definitely worth the effort.

Cheers, Paul.

Excellent work! It's hard to pick a favorite from all those shots, which BTW, violate the quantity rules.
In the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, OR a combination of both totaling 8 per thread. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are group threads, like "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.
You may add a few additional photos if requested, but only in a reply to other member's post and request.

I used some white plexi under the cars but had to move it around quite a bit as it didn't cover as much area as I thought it would. I had three 4X8' sheets but really probably could have used nine. As far as post work is concerned it's mostly comping all the frames together, most of these are about 60 frames for one image. Once the image is lined up just some basic adjustment layers were used.

Wow incredible shots, lighting is sensational!

Thats it! I'm emptying my garage and making it a studio!

They are ALL fantastic but if I had to pick just one it would be #1, lighting on that one is crazy awesome!

PS. I hate you

Beautiful series. I think the best car images I have seen for a long time.

Well Done.

Cheers

Boggy

Wow Sean, your lighting and PP is amazing like always. 15 cars in 4 days uh? Did you often find yourself not fully "satisfied" with the photo session of the current car, but had no choice but to move to the next one because of time constraints?
