Hi guys,

I've always liked taking pictures but only recently have started thinking a bit more seriously about it. Don't have much now - mere 550D, canon 10-22 and 85(whish it was an 'L':) So... I am new to photography and pp. Tell me please ...'should I stay or should I go':)

It's not really a question of staying or going, when you love it, you love it :D

As far as the photos go, the landscape under the platform is quite nice, I like the coloring you went with on it. Very unique.

The portrait is fun, the pose looks a little awkward but it seems to capture the moment well and I'm really drawn to her smile. I would warm up the colors, or at least lighten the skin a little and really make it pop from the background.

This is my camera, there are many like it, but this one is mine.

Tkanks for your comments.
I know that photography gives me that buzz, you know, the sound of the shutter, etc. It's just so distant from what I do for a living that I don't know... it's just making that move that slightly scares me. I guess I will have to take it one little step at a time.

I've warmed up the collors a bit and exposed my model a tad. What do you think?

any syggestions as far as LR3 sliders are concerned?

Really appreciate your feedback.

I would love to show off more pics but only two are allowed.

I know exactly what you mean, nothing feels quite so right as having a camera in your hands.

I love the colors on the second one, they really pop. For the first I'd take it further, as far as sliders go, I would increase the color temp closer to the yellow side, and up the fill light and clarity a little. I would go down to the hSL sliders and adjust the yellow and orange luminance channels as well. Those always give the skin a nice touch. Maybe a slight vignette as well to darken the sand a tad?

I will also say this, (as someone who recently made the switch in careers) the only downside to doing photography as a living is that you lose a hobby. I'm not much of a television or game player and editing photos was kind of my relaxation and...you lose that. Not all of it, but alot. But on the other hand, going to work at a wedding where everyone is happy and just want to laugh and have a good time. Can't beat the environment.

thanks again,

I think I will play with that picture tomorrow. Need to give it a rest and 'reset' my senses.

Thanks a lot.

Would love to see others' comments:)

fully agree with you on that. Isn't it a perfect combination though when your hobby has a potential to provide for you family? Best of two worlds!

wish you good luck on your new journey.

Hey Tommy. I'm in the same boat as you. I always liked photography and just picked up a DSLR 2 weeks ago. It's very rewarding when you realize at the end of the day that you shot something that you can keep and share with others. Although I'm new as well, I feel like as long as you enjoy photography, nobody can take that away from you. Keep it up! I like what I see =)
