Two HDRs I made of Snelling Hall at the University of Georgia. It was here that I picked up a few things that stuck with me the rest of my life: pounds.

It's a dining hall and it's huge inside, with lots of food. Freshman fifteen is real, my friends.

I got another fifteen on my honeymoon. That thirty has been with me ever since.

So, what do you think of these photos and which one is better? Thanks

Thank you. bw!

How many frames did you use? The reason I ask is because you didn't pull the shadows out very much. When I capture an HDR bracket I use 1 stop between bracketed shots and make sure I cover the entire DR. The closer you keep the bracketed images the more clean data there is for your blending/merging software to choose from. On these two shots it looks like you didn't overexposed enough to pull the shadows out. This 'might' be able to be corrected with a little fill light in LR, or my preferred method these days would be to use a layer mask and pull out the shadows.

1Ds Mk II, 1D Mk II, 50D, 40D, XT (for my son), 17-40L, 24-105L, Bigma 50-500 EX DG, Sigma 150 Macro EX DG, Tokina 12-24 AT-X, Nifty Fifty, Tamron 28-300 (for my son), 580ex II, 430ex II

2nd one. I too would like to see a bit more detail in the shadows of the building, though I do like the darker pavement of the first one FWIW.

I've played little with the image. Unfortunately, it was only a jpeg, so a lot of information has been already stripped from the image. Hope you don't mind. ;)

The rework needs to have the color lowered quite a bit.

Mike, they both look a bit dark to me. Of course, the sky isn't, but what looks like it should be the target (bldg) is too dark. JMHO :) Of the two, two is my choice.

Yeah, I've noticed that too when I looked at it on the home monitor. I was bored during lunch, but apparently my work laptop is lacking color, because it looked much better there.
Oh, well!

No. two for higher contrast in the building. No. one for seeing a little more in the shadows. Overall I like the impact of no. two.
