I would keep the 50d because I hate the feel of the smaller bodies. It feels more like a toy in your hands when compared to a full size camera like the 50d. Then again the 1 series users probably feel the same way about the regular consumer DSLRs like the 50d.

Not sure what's so "sad" about your situation, but both camera's will give you great results, but one has advantages over the other, the T2i has better high ISO performance, better metering system, better IQ, HD video, smaller in size (for me that's a plus), easier to take with you among a few other perks.

The 50D will shoot faster, better weather sealing, and for some, the bigger body is better to handle.

Comes down to personal choice, both will give you great images, if it were me, I would sell the 50D and buy a good lens with the money left over.

+1 For the sort of photo's the OP take's I'd go for the better IQ and metering of the T2i, handling can be improved by getting a battery grip.

50D, no contest IMO. The 50D has better:

- viewfinder
- fps
- x-sync speed
- build
- controls
- max shutter-speed

... and has AF micro-adjust.

i would sell both and get a 5d mk II lol...but if between the two i would say the t2i because it has better overall features that would help with iq...for me the only thing i would want from a 50d is MA other than that the t2i wins hands down.

t2i has slightly better pic quality than 50D, + video.

So if you don't really need to shoot pics of your kids running nor 6fps continuous, you don't really need 50D.

Also if your lens are fine on the t2i (i.e. you dont see the need to MA) then 50D's MA ability isn't that big of a deal to you.

I'd get a 50D over the T2i just for the control wheel and the better viewfinder.
