Hello Canon lovers,

Yet another Hill climb event demands a few new shots! Thought I haven't got round to uploading all this event's photos I have one for you and thought I could get some much appreciated feedback.

PP done was semi-desat + cropping + tonal changes + vignette + increased backgound blur.
Equipment used was the 450D + 28-70mm @ f/5.6

I am mainly looking for feedback on the postprocessing used here: Is the vignette too distracting (radius too low?) Is the tonality suitable for this photo?
On another note does the framing and angle work for you?

Here is the original:

Thanks! as always :)

Nice shots. I like the post -processing on the first shot, and the vignetting in not distracting at all. Also the first image looks sharper to my eye.

Thanks, in fact I did push the 'clarity' slider to the right and sharpened the image too.

Glad it's a positive start :)

I like the PP done quite a bit, except green is my favorite color, and wish the car had retained a little more of the green against the desaturated background.

Noted, green is my fave too :)

I'm getting a positive feel from this forum as well as on flickr. Feel free to leave any comments on my flickr page :)

Thanks once again.. I think i found my preferred type of photography: motorsports! Pity I have a 3fps camera. I could really do with an 8fps Eos 1DmkII but haven't got the monies!!

Nice pic and PP Chris. I would stick with that PP for suitable shots...it gives you a point of difference. But use other means as well to make your pictures stand out.
Looking for more drama in the hill climbing and other motor-sport pics? Rather than wish for more FPS, try panning on slower speeds and don't be afraid of tilting the camera either...sometimes that can be effective.

The nice reflections on the windows really seem to do a lot for this one.

Right you are, I do use panning and slow speeds generally 1/80 or 1/100 are my faves. Check out my older hill climb shots for examples of this. However I feel I'm let down by the AF and fps on the 450D, even when using the L series lens. Don't get me wrong I love this camera and do get good results but I can't help thinking that I'd have much more 'keepers' with a faster cam.

Having no polarizer on let those reflections go wild! hehe :)

That is a heavily modified Ford Escort MKII with widened (and very nicely done) arches.

Here's one with a 1/125 shutter, which does (i believe) add more drama:

Love it! I would of preferred it to be panned but hey I still love it.
