So you're say people who live in Europe, Asia and Australia for example live in a fantasy world because they don't carry guns or have no need to carry guns??

I'm not going to comment on the gun issue, but are you saying that these regions are completely crime free, or that they don't possess any carnivorous or poisonous critters, or are you, again, using this forum to express your anti-US sentiments...big country the United States is, 300 million people, let's not conflate, let's not simplify, let's not be chauvinistic...it's tiresome, sanctimonious, and often hypocritical.

Anyway, I'm unsubscribing, but PM's always welcome.

Pardon my "other view" - but in reading through this fascinating thread - I've been feeling as if I was reading 'scenarios' from another World....

If those (probably well-trained and very safe-careful) - folk who "Carry" - are planning a visit to Australia, they might note that here:

All handguns have been illegal for Civilian private use since 1905.

All self-loading firearms have been illegal since the 1990s.

Pump-Action and Lever-Action shotguns and rifles (including rimfire .22) - are illegal. Break-action shotguns and Bolt-action rifles are legal, after an "approved" Training Course, if you can show why you need to have a Licence.

Capsicum and similar Sprays are illegal for Civilian use.

Carrying any Item or Device on your person or in a vehicle "With Intent" to use it to defend yourself - is illegal. Not only Knives, etc - any item with such intent.

Crossbows, Slingshots, and Batons, are illegal.

All Fireworks, other than hand-held "Sparklers" are illegal. (Govt or Commercial Licenced Displays excepted.)

The above measures have, here, Stopped All Crime, Eliminated the Terrorists, Prevented Global Warming, and Made all Aussies Much Better Looking..... :p

Ahem....

Dave.

Well, this was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?

But sadly as most of these threads go, it's spiraled so far away from photography that it's not going to continue here.
