This one's a little too flat for me. Perhaps have the main light a little more on the left side for shape and add in a reflector on the right for some fill? Those eyes are stunning though. Good catch-lights in them.

I like the first two over the B&W's, with the first being my favourite if the shadows were not so dark.
I think they all could benefit from a reflector or a fill flash, perhaps maybe a rim light or two, but all this would probably extend the shooting time needed, were you constrained to half an hour or was that all you needed?

Would you be willing to share your sheet of poses, as posing is probably my 'weakest link' currently.

Regards

Rhys

we were constrained to 30 mins, i had setup a 430 ex behind the model later on in the shoot to fill the right side but none of those shots were worth processing, i plan on getting another strobe for fill (i blew up some cheapo ones a couple weeks ago, left with one monolight and the 430)

as far as the poses, i googled glamour poses, model poses, fashion poses, selected a few i liked and printed them of, they werent a set i found anywhere or anything

thanks for the comments, shes eager to go out again so hopefully i can improve

Don't underestimate the power of a $30 reflector. It provides an automatic ratio to your main light and diffuses nicely depending on what size you get. Adding another flash can be useful too, but working with reflectors is much less cumbersome (unless there is a lot of wind)

These look pretty conventional to me. The first pose does strike me as kind of awkward though. I'm not one to talk though, I've never been good at directing models.

Anytime you have her look away from the camera with a given pose, also shoot another shot at that same pose where she is looking. Part of the awkwardness of the first shot is where she's looking.

Be careful with the side lighting, it can make some people look cross eyed, which is more evident in the second image.

I like the butterfly lighting of the B&W, but I'm not crazy about the arm pit. It's nice and clean, but I avoid poses that reveal it so overtly. Also her forehead is a little hot, and the whole thing is a little flat, B&W photos needs to be contrasty.

It looks like you have a good handle on balancing strobes with ambient exposure, so now you just need to shoot more.

Looks good! Great job for first shoot. Love the lighting on the BW shot. I like your mix of ambient light in with the strobe.
