i'm debating between the two IPS monitors. is the u2410 worth the extra $200+?

i will be using this as a 2nd monitor connected via DP to my 13" MB alum.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, how are you?
I'm kind of on the same boat, fighting with the same decision...
From what I read, the U2410 is wide gamut and has 12bit internal processing.
The 2311 is only sRGB.
My problem is I don't know if I will use the wide gamut.
All my current pictures were taken with my cameras on sRGB color space...
FOr the price of a u2410, I can get almost 2 2311 and go for a dual display solution...
Oh... decisions...
Let's wait for some more input...

Cheers!

From what I read, the U2410 is wide gamut and has 12bit internal processing.

You can view this as either a reason to choose it over the lesser U2311h, go with the U2311h, or go with an even more advanced monitor. Yes, the U2410 has 12 bit internal processing, which means that you have more and finer latitude in calibrating it without causing banding and other display issues. But the internal LUT can not be accessed via calibration software like high end Eizos, NECs, and others can. You're still only calibrating it at the video card level.

The wide gamut should not be an issue for anyone who has a confident understanding of basic color management. This specific monitor seems to frustrate those who are inexperienced with monitor calibration, while it rewards those who can get it under control.

Personally, I thinks it's worth the money, but if I was ready to spend that kind of money on a new monitor, I would spend even more and get an NEC P221W.

My advice is go with two U2311h's.
