If the 5D III comes with the same AF as the 5D C/5D II, I won't even bother.

I never use AF ever so if and when a 5DIII becomes reality I will most likely upgrade.

Hahaha

Woo you

Just my wild guess here to add to the others.

I see the 7D as the sports shooter speedster and the 5d mkIII as the portrait/landscape togs body.

If this agrees with Canon's thoughts then we should see the 5DmkIII being set up for those types of duties thus the feature set should be complementary to that type of work.

No more than 5 FPS, We MAY see the 19 point AF of the 7D and I think we should as a people tog likes to place the subject all over the frame.
100% VF
Better weather sealing, at least as good as the 7D. I think it should be better.
5 frame HDR shooting fully programmable as to EV adjustments thus the 5 FPS need this for landscapes.
A dedicated video button like the 7D.
Also let's take this one a notch above the 7D and make the buttons FULLY programmable.
How about a Histogram tied to the RAW file and the review image auto zoomed on the focus point at 5 or 10 times mag, my choice?
Better live view auto focus too.
Clean up the banding noise and how about true 14 bit dynamic range?

That should do for this go round. DO NOT take any performance away from the mkIII that already exists in the mkII. WE want true forward movement. Not two steps forward and one step back.

Price? A few hundred $'s less than the 5DmkII. If they can do what they did with the 7D they surely can do it for the 5DmkIII.

I am looking for a FF small body brother for my 7D. If Canon wants to fool around I will wait and they will have to wait also for my $$$. As nice as the 5DmkII's images can be I will never own one due to the poor AF choice Canon made. Rock steady AF in reasonable light is a must not an option. The 7D does well here and so should the 5DmkIII.

That's all I have to say about that.

+1 Well said.

Haha do you think the 7D will get the same treatment? I know its a great camera, but don't know if its as "classic" as the 1D and 5D series cameras.

I own it....and had the option between the 5D MII and the 7D. I went with the 7D and haven't looked back since. The reason I chose the 7D over the 5D MII? Simple..the AF system is so far ahead of anything in the 5D or the 5D MII that I am waiting for the 5D MIII to come out...which is exactly what I'm doing.

The 7D is not only a classic....parts of it is what is going to move the 5D MIII forward. The 5D MII wasn't very impressive in terms of upgrades in my view.

seriously. any excuse they give me other than terrorists were holding their families captive unless the put a 98% VF in it will be unacceptable. Also if it isn't to much to ask i would also like it as big as the 1ds MKIII VF

5d classic still reigns supreme in my house lol no plans on upgrading whatsoever, my clients wont kno the diff between a 5dc and a 5dmark XIII the 5d classic still take incredible images, and at its price point there are NO competitors.

I guess it's not like Coca Cola "Classic".

Let's just hope they don't produce a camera like the "NEW" coke. How long did that last?

Increase the high iso performance 3 stops, improve the AF and I'll take two.

So swap out the 35mm sensor with a large format sensor then?

I agree with all the cries for better AF. Same old AF = no sale for me. I don't need all the other doodads, but fast and reliable AF--particularly the outer AF points and especially in low light--is what will get me to finally move up from my 5D classic. Otherwise I can manually focus just as well with my 5D Classic as I'll be able to with a 5DIII with identical AF, since that's what I'd have to do anyway to get around those weak outer AF points.
