Got my DSLR a couple months ago and here's one of my favorite pictures.
I decided to make this image my first picture I get printed out and framed for my wall. Going to print out at 10"x12"
Should I print on Glossy or Matte finish?
I brightened the yellow just a touch and toned down the green just a little bit.
F/13 ISO 100 with a shutter speed of 2.5 seconds

What do you all think?
Should I have done anything differently or is this picture a success?

It is much sharper on the right than on the left. I am not sure if it is because the focus point or just wind in a long exposure. It doesn't kill the picture anyway.
The glossy vs matte depends on if it is going to have a glass in front or not (glossy and glass=no no) and personal preference. If I were to print it I would burn the bright patch between the trees so that it doesn't compete with the actual subject.
Great picture!

Thanks :)
Might have been a slight amount of wind as I'm sure just a whisper of wind could have caused that. I added a tiny touch of sharpen and removed the sky between the trees and just replaced it with more trees.
You think this makes for a better image or would just toning down the sky be a better choice for this image?

Good edit. Just make sure it looks good when you see it larger on your screen.
Print and enjoy!

Surely from a practical point of view you are not printing to the same aspect ratio.

This is just a editing copy. I will recreate my image fresh from the Raw before printed and do all my soft printing and all that.
The image company I'm getting my photo printed from also is sending me some free prints so I can compare it to my monitor.
I'm going to send them my edited version to print, and a original so they can do their color correcting and compare the 2 to see which looks better.

It looks good to me :) I'd go with a matte printing instead of glossy for a shot like this.

Pretty darn nice looking. Even the algae in the water looks great color-wise.

As far as gloss vs. lustre, I've been messing with that myself. Tried both with about 12 photos I want to make available for prints.

The color and detail with gloss is head and shoulders above a lustre or matte finish. The richness of color looks unsurpassed on gloss when it comes to forest scenery.

In your shot, a lot of stuff like the boulders, water and plants probably won't lose much detail if you go with matte or lustre.

But when it comes to a matte or lustre paper, the closest resemblance that comes to mind for comparison is the finish of a computer screen. Lustre photo paper looks sort of like those digital photo frames in a way, only less bright since its not lit.
